Oh Happy Day! - Mary Alice's Baptism

Oh Happy Day!

A few weeks ago we were blessed to witness the baptism of our sweet Mary Alice. She had been asking about it for months. At first, both Josh and myself were reluctant to embrace our "little" girl taking such a big step. After all, would we be okay with her making a less important commitment, say, marriage, at only eight years old? We asked God if she could really be old enough for such an important decision. God gave us a window into Mary Alice's heart as she continued to express to us her need for Jesus in her life, her understanding of her own sinfulness, and her longing to be a part of God's family. We set a date, February 27th, a Saturday. Almost all of our family was able to be there along with several of Mary Alice's friends. After the baptism, we celebrated her special day with barbecue and a beautiful tiered cake.

My brother-in-law, Dustin Hahn, owns a video production company. He was kind enough to make this special video for us of Mary Alice's baptism. What a treasure!

We are so blessed that God put our little girl into our life. He gave Mary Alice such a heart for Him!

Mary Alice,

As you begin your journey as a Christian, I hope to see you growing more in love with Him each day. You are a gift to your daddy and me. We have prayed for God to fill your heart since before you were born. We are so glad to see you pursuing God and pray that you will continue to look straight towards Him throughout your life. Look to God's Word for wisdom, turning neither to the right nor to the left. We love you Mary Alice girl!

Mom

***Here is your verse, picked out for you when you were just a tiny baby. This is what I hope for your walk, sweet girl. Trust in God and let His Word be a light for your path.

Psalm 119:97-105 (Mary Alice's Verse :)

"Oh how I love your law! It is my meditation all the day. Your commandments make me wiser than my enemies, For they are ever mine. I have more insight than all my teachers, For your testimonies are my meditation. I understand more than the aged, Because I have observed your precepts. I have restrained my feet from every evil way, That I may keep your word. I have not turned aside from your ordinances, For you yourself have taught me. How sweet are your words to my taste! Yes, sweeter than honey to my mouth! From your precepts I get understanding; Therefore I hate every false way. Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path."

Ordinary Days

My friend Kristen posted this on her blog. I liked it so much that I decided to repost it here. I've always loved the quote "Life is made up of ordinary days." We should make the best of them. The special moments will be gone all too soon. Give your kiddoes a hug and make the best of those "ordinary" things in life. Thanks for the reminder, Kristen!
